Bio
Raised in rural Clackamas County, Mike attended West Linn High School before completing his BA in Government at Harvard. After a successful career in the precious metals industry in California, he moved back home with his family and started a small family cannabis farm near Oregon City in 2016.
While quickly identifying the need for business focused voices in the Oregon cannabis advocacy space, he founded the Oregon Industry Progress Association, a tactical lobbying group focused on nuts-and-bolts rule and statute improvements for the OLCC licensed industry in Oregon. Mike spent years actively lobbying in Salem, and was soon fit to lead the merger of the four competing trade associations in Oregon into what became the Cannabis Industry Alliance of Oregon, the largest industry trade association in the Pacific Northwest, for which he now serves as the Board Chair.
Through his tenure in the cannabis public policy space, Mike has played a critical role in each piece of cannabis legislation up for consideration in Oregon over the last six years. He is also the Director of Licensing & Public Affairs for Nectar, a role that has allowed him to focus on utilizing the lessons learned in the Oregon market to consult with legislators and regulators in other states as they wrestle with the complex policy issues surrounding the growing cannabis industry.
